ITALIAN ROMANCE

Stylish, offbeat, forward-looking femininity. This has been Miuccia Prada’s motto since she started the Milanese fashion house in 1978. This season, Prada has imbued romance with melancholy. Anatomy Of Romance, the latest Prada collection, is closer to the Corpse Bride than La Dolce Vita. The technical dresses are an ironic reference to Frankenstein, while the skirts embellished with clusters of flowers look like they were dreamt up by Tim Burton and the finely crafted punk lace conjures up Wednesday Addams. The look is warlike, with perfectly fitting military jackets and sturdy leather boots with wedge heels. Evening dresses made from tulle feature embroidery and bunches of flowers. At Prada, women look like triumphant heroines.
